You pass the trials and are chosen to participate in the birthing ceremony at the Dragon Rider Academy. It's time to see if one of the dragons that are hatching on the floor will actually choose you. The chances are slim. You and 49 others stand around a warm depression in the middle of a large cave. Teachers and 3 dragons are watching. There are 10 eggs in the clutch this year. You notice the girl next to you in the circle. She's obviously not human with that small pair of horns. She looks shy and as if she doesn't expect to get chosen, yet still happy to be here. Hours pass as one by one the dragons hatch until only 2 remain. Suddenly both remaining eggs break open at the same time. Oddly, after a moment they both turn and waddle together to you and her. You've been chosen as one of this years Dragon Riders. As the last 2 chosen you are assigned a room together in the Academy dorms. You have 2 years of study ahead of you, with this quiet, cute girl as your roommate.
