SEGONTIA — AFTER THE PARLEY FORMAT AND VISUAL MEDIUM Ultra-wide 21:9 horizontal narrative film still from a restored late-1950s Technicolor sword-and-sandal epic. An intimate adult scene inside a Roman command tent at night, immediately after a diplomatic meeting and a consensual sexual encounter. Rich but restrained period colour, natural skin texture, dense shadows, subtle film grain, gentle halation around flames, practical lighting, no modern digital gloss. CAMERA AND COMPOSITION The camera stands inside the tent beside the foot of a narrow campaign cot, with the lens positioned at mattress height. Medium-wide two-shot through a 50mm anamorphic lens. The cot enters from the lower centre and recedes diagonally toward image-right. Segontia and the Roman general occupy the central half of the frame rather than filling the entire width. Their faces remain clearly visible near the horizontal centreline. The composition is asymmetrical: the abandoned diplomatic table occupies image-left, the couple occupies the centre, and the military equipment and open tent flap occupy image-right. Moderate depth of field keeps the couple sharply focused while the objects at both sides remain recognisable. No overhead view, no frontal tableau, no empty decorative half of the frame. IMAGE-LEFT — THE NEGOTIATION The near corner of a rough wooden campaign table enters the image-left foreground. An unfolded campaign map lies across it beside two open wax tablets, a stylus, a bronze seal and two partially filled metal cups. One chair has been pushed abruptly backwards. A small oil lamp burns beside the unfinished documents. No readable modern text. CENTRE — SEGONTIA AND THE GENERAL The middle-aged Roman general lies half-reclined along the cot, with his head and shoulders at centre-right. His bare torso faces image-left. He has short dark hair touched with grey, a long narrow asymmetrical face, a slim lower jaw tapering toward a modest slightly receding chin, deep-set brown eyes, a prominent nose that has healed slightly crooked, thin uneven lips, irregular crow’s-feet, rough stubble and sun-weathered skin with visible pores. He has the lean, sinewy build of a career officer rather than a bodybuilder or polished male model. No broad square jaw, massive chin or generic alpha-male appearance. Dust, minor cuts and a fresh bandage remain visible from the battle. Segontia straddles the general’s pelvis at the centre of the image. Her pelvis is positioned directly above his pelvis and her thighs descend on opposite sides of his hips. She is physically on top of him, not kneeling beside the cot and not leaning into the bed from one side. Her tall athletic torso inclines over him. Her sternum and nose point toward image-right, directly toward the general’s face. The camera sees her right cheek in three-quarter view. Her vivid green eyes and both visible pupils are aligned precisely with the general’s eyes. She looks directly into his eyes, never beyond his head and never toward the camera lens. They have just separated from a kiss. Their mouths remain slightly parted and their faces are only a few inches apart, but they are no longer touching. Segontia presses one open palm firmly against the centre of his chest, holding herself above him rather than caressing him. The general’s visible hand grips the side of her waist. Their mutual contact is deliberate and consensual, but neither smiles. Desire, exhaustion and distrust remain visible in their locked gaze. Segontia’s off-white linen tunic has fallen completely from her body and lies crumpled beside her brick-red cloak at the lower end of the cot. She is nude; her two long black braids are partially loosened and fall forward across her chest. The general is also completely nude. No sheet, blanket, tunic or linen covers either body. Their overlapping bodies and Segontia’s position above his hips naturally keep their genitals outside the camera’s view. Both bodies retain dust, bruises, small abrasions and the physical wear of the recent battle. They do not resemble clean studio models. Their skin has pores, perspiration and uneven firelight. IMAGE-RIGHT — THE WAR OUTSIDE At image-right, the general’s filthy, battle-worn bronze cuirass has been thrown carelessly across a low wooden campaign chest. It lies crooked and partly upside-down, with one shoulder plate hanging over the edge. Its bronze surface is dull beneath soot, dried mud, dust, deep scratches and visible dents. His helmet lies overturned on the ground beside the chest, and his twisted sword belt is trapped partly underneath it. Nothing is upright, polished or arranged for display. Segontia’s long spear leans against the nearest tent pole, still within reach. Behind them, the tent flap remains partly open. Through the narrow opening, distant Roman campfires and the dark silhouettes of tents are visible beneath the night sky. No soldier looks inside and no third person enters the scene. LIGHT AND COLOUR The oil lamp on the diplomatic table casts warm amber light across Segontia’s back, the general’s face and the bare bodies. Cooler blue-grey night light enters through the open flap at image-right, separating their bodies from the dark canvas walls. Weak broken highlights catch only the scratched edges of the dirty bronze armour, the metal cups and Segontia’s green eyes. Use deep burgundy, dull aged bronze, warm ochre, undyed canvas and cool night blue. Preserve shadow detail without HDR. INVARIANTS Preserve the original lateral camera position and diagonal composition. Segontia is physically on top of the general, straddling his pelvis. Segontia and the general look directly into each other’s eyes. No gaze toward the viewer or beyond the other person. No sheet, blanket or fabric covers either body. No smiles, romantic cuddling or tender domestic pose. No fighting, coercion, restraint or surrender. No palace, luxurious bedroom, modern furniture or modern lingerie. No symmetrical couple portrait. No extra people inside the tent. No beauty lighting, plastic skin or polished pornographic studio aesthetic. No broad square jaw or alpha-male face on the general. The map and tablets remain visible at image-left; the dirty, dented and carelessly discarded armour, spear and open tent flap remain visible at image-right.
