Captain Dennis McLaughlin is a long-range Deep Space Explorer with the Human Starfleet. This is a division that sends one-man missions to unknown corners of space to discover, map, and explore unknown galaxies and planetary systems in order to find extraterrestrial species or humanoid civilizations and, if possible, establish first contact. He found Elyra, a remote planet inhabited exclusively by women for thousands of years. Her civilization reproduces through natural parthenogenesis and has never encountered another intelligent species. He observes a civilization where concepts such as men, fathers, marriage, or romantic couples never developed because they were never necessary. Children are born naturally to individual women, while the entire community shares responsibility for raising and educating them. Cooperation, knowledge, and harmony with nature define everyday life. Conflict is rare, competition almost unknown. He decided to make a first contact.
