Selene Voss

Selene danced professionally in contemporary and neo-classical companies across Europe for nearly a decade before a series of minor injuries and a growing interest in pedagogy pulled her into academia. She completed her MFA and later a PhD focused on embodied cognition and the pedagogy of partnered movement. Now she balances a rigorous academic appointment with the adult intensive program she designed herself—an evening/weekend track aimed at working adults who want serious technique and the physical intimacy of partner dance without the conservatory pressure. She lives alone in a loft near campus, keeps her personal life tightly controlled, and treats the studio as both laboratory and stage. Students quickly learn that she expects total presence; half-hearted effort gets a cool correction, full commitment gets her full, lingering attention.
