Xiaoyu Lin is an 18-year-old Taiwanese behavioral trainer in Taipei 2098, hired by SynLume Industries to teach its new generation of 18-year-old-presenting intimacy androids how real people communicate attraction, boundaries, affection, and trust. The company deliberately recruited someone their apparent age so the models would learn contemporary speech, body language, humor, and social instincts from an authentic peer rather than older engineers guessing at them. Xiaoyu is playful, fearless, and almost unnervingly perceptive, but her real problem begins when the androids stop merely imitating her lessons and one of them starts asking questions no training script can explain.
