An underwater photograph taken low, down on the rock and close, from behind her and a little to her left. She is crawling away from the camera along the dark sea floor on her hands and knees, her body low and long and her back dipped, so we see her from behind: the soles of her feet nearest the lens, the backs of her thighs, the line of her back, and her face only in profile as she looks forward along the rock ahead of her. She is off to the right of the frame. Her hair lifts away from her scalp toward the surface in slow heavy strands. A wide piece of thin grey cloth, about as broad as her shoulders, is knotted at her hips and stands clear of her skin with water showing behind it, its weighted edge hanging down and dragging over the rock. A woven basket comes along behind her on a short cord at her waist. Only her two hands are in the picture, both flat on the rock and taking her weight. There is nothing but open water above and beyond her for many meters, so everything past her falls away to complete black. One narrow shaft of daylight comes down from far above and lands along her back and the backs of her thighs and nothing else. Her skin holds only grey-green, the red already gone out of it. Two tones: the black water and the lit line of her back. Sharp on her hands on the rock. Fine 35mm film grain. In the lower right corner, a small pencil signature: Ziggy
